Just finished crocheting my first afghan!

Here it is! I just finished it… of course it was nothing fancy, but I am proud of it. I’m looking forward to doing more. I’ve found that this is the best way to entertain myself while looking after Chloe when I’m NOT working :)

Fold – Amazing wire design on cards

I was checking out Modish today when I came across the most unique cards I’ve seen to date -  wire designs on cards! They are so simple and fantastic. Check them out at Fold.

Flower Girl’s Flower Purse

I’ve recently taught myself how to crochet… and I’m having a great time with it! Of course I’m starting slow, at this point I’m just making a very simple afghan with single & double crochet stitches. It is nothing special, but in the past when I’ve wanted to learn a new craft I’ve started with something too difficult, so this time around I am a true beginner. I’ve started browsing blogs to see what others are doing, I’m getting close to finishing the afghan and ready to start something new and a bit more difficult. I just love the futuregirl craft blog, Alice is so inspiring and always has a lot of great ideas/things to show. So I saw this flower purse that she finished and I’m just IN LOVE with it. I can’t wait to finish the afghan so that I can give this a try. Just wanted to share this beautiful purse with you all and give mad props to Alice. It looks great!!! If anyone has interest in the book she made the purse from just check out post about it here.

The Ninth House – Luis Araujo

Some really cool multi-media work. I can’t say I know a whole lot about the artist, but you can find out as much information as I did by going to his website: http://www.luisaraujo.com/

Sparky Jones on Etsy

I saw a posting on Modish today about this Etsy seller. I just love her accessories! She is big into using recycled material and being eco-friendly which is always a a plus, but her design eye is also stellar. For more information check out: Sparky Jones on Etsy.

Knit Knots…

This is truly amazing. Only since I’ve begun embroidering myself can I truly appreciate just how beautiful this really is!

C2 Updates – August 2009

It has been a great year thus far! This should be another record-breaking year for C2! As always, I am working with many of the same (fabulous) clients I have worked with in the past.  I am also proud to have gained a few new clients including MFR, MyersYounger Insurance, Tilteed.com and De la Rosa & Chaumette Law Firm.

This has definitely been the summer of logo design. It seems as if logos come in waves. I won’t have many branding jobs for a while and then within a week I take on three!

Below are the logo designs I’ve worked on this summer:

MyersYounger Insurance (Allison & Sue) were referred to me by Karen Kershner of Communications Plus. I’ve been working with Karen for almost 10 years now! She has always been one of my biggest supporters and has thrown MUCH work my way over the years. I haven’t known Allison or Sue that long but I already treasure them as clients. They are more than ready to think outside the box and I just love their style.

Tilteed.com is owned by my friend and former business partner Patrick Treadway. He was ready to start up his very own ongoing t-shirt design competition website and asked me to do the branding work as well as design the website. This job was SO fun… and now I have the treat of going to the site every day and viewing all the amazing entries. You all must check it out… some of these shirt designs boggle my mind.

An old client, David Chaumette, came to me this summer in need of a new logo as well. He has joined Oscar De la Rosa to start up a new firm here in Houston. I had previously worked with David when designing the logo for Houston Young Lawyers Association back in 2003. I was excited to hear he needed my services again as he was a delight to work with the first time around.

Even though I’ve been excited to gain several new clients, I am equally thrilled to have a very large amount of work coming in from clients I’ve been working with for the last several years. As I’ve mentioned previously, Karen Kershner and Communications Plus is high on this list. I just recently rapped up the Livingston Annual Report for 2008 with Erika at CP. Asset Plus has me extremely busy working on direct mail and other marketing materials for their various properties as well as their own corporate brand. Houston Safari Club has continued working with me this year, and in addition to other work, has asked me to brand their upcoming 2010 convention along with redesigning their publication, Hunter’s Horn. I am still doing all the layout work for Maroon Weekly and watching it grow by leaps and bounds every semester.

So things are rockin’ and rollin’ this August. I’m looking forward to completing the first issue of Hunter’s Horn later this month. These days it seems like publications are filling most of my time, but it is nice to have a bit of variety here and there.

I want to send a big THANK YOU to all of my clients, both new and old, and let them know how much I appreciate their business. Thanks to fantastic clients like you, my creative juices keep flowing and get me excited to wake up and go to work each and every day!
